Master Project Conference 2021
The European Studies Master's students will present their final project on Friday 08 October.
The Master Project reflects the skills acquired by our students in the Master's programme and provides relevant research on current issues for those interested in the functioning of the EU, European institutions and coordination at regional, national and supranational levels.
The topic of this year's Master Project conference is:
Combining climate and social policy: An analysis of the social dimension of the green transition in the NextGenerationEU recovery instrument
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the European Union enacts the so-called ‘biggest stimulus package ever’: the NextGenerationEU recovery instrument, surpassing 800 bn €. The instrument is dedicated to building a better EU emerging stronger from the pandemic - greener, more digital and more resilient. Its centrepiece is the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), which provides grants and loans to support reforms and investments in the Member States. The fund involves, however, conditionalities. A relevant part of the agreement is the dedication of a minimum of 37% of the expenditure in climate reforms and investments in the respective National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRRPs) of the Member States. This overarching objective will be the focus of our project. Furthermore, as the EU aims at building a Europe ‘that works for everyone’, we will assess and discuss the social dimension of climate projects in selected NRRPs. Are the intended climate reforms and investments promoting the social agenda? Do the climate goals of the NRRPs combine climate and social policy? |
