Europaforum im Palais 2025 – 35 Years of German Unity: Saxony-Anhalt and the EU
On 26 November 2025, the Europaforum im Palais invites participants to an evening discussion titled “35 Years of German Unity: Saxony-Anhalt and the EU” at the Palais am Fürstenwall in Magdeburg.
Experts from politics, academia, and civil society will discuss transformation experiences and future perspectives for Europe.

Welcome Week 2025 provided our EUS students with a wonderful start to the new semester – featuring introductory sessions, new connections, and two Friday highlights: the presentation of the MA projects and a guided city tour through Magdeburg.

New Chapter by Prof. Heidbreder on the 2024 European Elections
In a newly published book chapter, Prof. Dr. Eva Heidbreder and Dr. Daniel Schade examine the third application of the Spitzenkandidaten procedure. Their contribution appears in the edited volume The 2024 European Parliament Elections: A Turn to the Right in the Shadow of War (Springer, 2025), which analyses the 2024 European Parliament elections from various angles.
European Studies Master's – now also starting in the summer semester!
The English-taught Master’s program European Studies at OVGU is now open for summer semester entry. Choose between two specializations, study in small groups, and explore Europe through an interdisciplinary lens.
Apply by January 15.
