When the EU is appealing to the disadvantaged: how utilitarianism and identy shape attitudes towards a social Europe: Lecture with Borbála Göncz, PhD (Corvinus University).
Going beyond the widely researched topic of public support towards the European integration process the lecture examines the potential public support for a social Europe. While recent studies approach European solidarity from the perspective of the welfare state and welfare attitudes, this lecture links it to support for the EU and the concept of identity. It is argued that general support for the European integration process and support for a social Europe are different phenomena. Borbála Göncz is a Research Fellow at the Corvinus University of Budapest. Her research interests include attitudes towards the EU, European identity, citizens' participation and migration.

Deutsche Ratspräsidentschaft 2020 im Schatten der Corona-Krise" – ein Zoom-Gespräch mit Legationsrat Arne David Schneider, Auswärtiges Amt
Am 23. Juni wird eine exklusive Veranstaltung für EUS-Studierende mit Legationsrat Arne David Schneider, Mitglied der Koordinierungsgruppe der Deutschen Ratspräsidentschaft im Auswärtigen Amt via Zoom stattfinden. Wir blicken zurück auf sechs Monate "Krisenpräsidentschaft 2020" und erhalten exklusive Einblicke in die Koordinierung einer Ratspräsidentschaft, die im Schatten der Corona-Pandemie stand.
Das Gespräch findet im Rahmen des Seminars "Germany in the EU: The German Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2020" und auf Englisch statt.
Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 15:15 Uhr.

Den Bachelorstudiengang European Studies wird in einem fünf Minuten Impulsvortrag präsentiert. Wir werden Einblicke in Studieninhalte, den Uni-Alltag und berufliche Perspektiven bieten. Anschließend ist Raum für spezifische Fragen und Gespräche.

Aufgrund einiger verspäteter Programmeinreichungen und -zusagen, konnte die Webseite leider erst mit deutlicher Verzögerung freigeschaltet werden. Wir hoffen mit unserer Marketingkampagne in den kommenden 3 Wochen dennoch zahlreiche Studieninteressierte für die Veranstaltung zu gewinnen.
